Personal magnetism
What is it?
Well we can say the foundation of ‘magnetism’ is attraction, because that which attracts is magnetic! But there is more to it than that. Personal magnetism is to do with the way you appear to the rest of the world, it's to do with your manner, and I suppose in the old days we would have said that someone who was ‘charming’ had personal magnetism.
In some people it is a quiet confidence that attracts others, in other people it is an electric personality, an intensity that draws people to them and then inspires them to do things that they may not ordinarily dare to undertake!
In most cases it makes other people feel very confident about the ‘magnetic’ person when they present themselves, and of course it is the person with personal magnetism who will always win the interview, even if they are not particularly suited to the job!
It seems that the only people able to see through this, to the real person beneath is someone with a psychic or clairvoyant abilities, which is why many large companies these days often employ psychics to sit in on job interviews.
Personal magnetism is the power that attracts the world, or perhaps most of the world as individuals.
People with personal magnetism to a high degree, also seem to be able to present himself to the best advantage, and can change this depending on what their aims are, and the character of the person they are trying to impress. These are very valuable tools, you could say that they are ‘ power tools’ and here is the really interesting thing…
Although many people are born with personal magnetism, those who are not can acquire it if they are willing to work towards this, and to some degree it is a very useful thing to be able to do.
Politeness also adds to the power of magnetism but it is not magnetism itself, a polite manner will make people feel at ease and make them want to know the person better, but this is not enough. To be truly ‘magnetic’ the personality has to have a deep seated feeling that they are successful and to some extent irresistible, and this has to be acquired by long practice.
Have you ever wondered how one person can walk into a shop or a bank and demand attention instantly, and have people running around after them? Whereas the second person will try desperately to get someone to take notice and they will be, to all intents and purposes, ignored!
The person with personal magnetism comes in with the attitude that they are the most important person in that place at that particular moment, (and truly believes it!) and assumes the right to be attended to efficiently and promptly. The second person probably comes in, in a slightly apologetic frame of mind, so of course nobody will take any notice!
So whether you are born with personal magnetism or whether you have acquired it along the way, there is absolutely no doubt that in today's society it will go a long way towards taking you where you need to be… and for anyone who works with the general public or in a position of trust such as local government, it is an absolute necessity to appear totally in control and sure of yourself at all times.
Clothes and general bearing may go a long way towards making people ‘warm’ toward you… but they will only help to a certain degree.
The real power of magnetism must come from deep within, and it comes from being at one with oneself, knowing one's place in the scale of things, and from having the ambition to be the best that one can possibly be. Combine this with the honesty to see yourself ‘warts and all’ and the willingness to change and you have a recipe for success!
